Keynote Speaker Title:
Hydrogen Energy: Route to Sustainable Energy
Duration: 45 Minutes
Abstract:
Through hydrogen energy systems, the energy carrier hydrogen is a key facilitator of sustainable energy and can contribute significantly to attaining sustainability. As easily accessible fossil fuel supplies become increasingly scarce and environmental concerns escalate, hydrogen energy is likely to become an increasingly important. With the world’s energy sources becoming less fossil fuel-based, hydrogen and electricity are expected to be the two dominant energy carriers for the provision of end-use services, in a hydrogen economy. A hydrogen economy involves many types of hydrogen energy systems, which together allow greater use of renewable energy resources.
Routes to hydrogen production are possible from various energy sources, including renewable and non-renewable energy sources. In fact, numerous commercial and pre-commercial processes exist for producing hydrogen from various fossil fuels as well as non-fossil fuel sources like solar energy, wind energy, bioenergy energy and various other types of renewable in addition to nuclear energy. Renewable energy options are usually considered more sustainable. Furthermore, technologies exist and are undergoing development for the storage, transport, distribution and utilization of hydrogen, especially in the transportation and energy utility sectors. In this presentation, the role of hydrogen as an energy carrier and facilitator of sustainable energy is described and illustrated, and hydrogen energy systems that can contribute to a sustainable world are reviewed and discussed.

Yang Haiping Prof. Ph.D
State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion
Huazhong University of Science and Technology
China
Keynote Speaker Title: Development of biomass pyrolysis polygeneration and pyrolysis product upgrading
Keynote Speaker Abstract: As the only carbon contained renewable energy resources, the utilization of biomass is the key for the problem between energy and environment. Pyrolysis can convert biomass to gas fuel, liquid oil and solid char efficiently, it can convert biomass to high quality fuel, and is one of the main route for biomass utilization. Technology of polygeneration based on biomass pyrolysis was put forward with target product controlling theory, and the operation experiment on the pilot and commercial size had also finished. The volume content of combustible composition in bio-gas would be above 70 vol %,with LHV up to 15 MJ/Nm3. It is a good quality gaseous fuel for user. At the same time, a higher performance on the adsorption and combustion was obtained for the solid char product while the liquid oil was enriched more light weight composition such as phenols and acetic acid. The technology economic and environmental analysis shown that this technology has a good economy and environment performance compared with other biomass conversion technology. A further upgrading of the pyrolytic products for H2 rich gas fuel, liquid chemicals and solid carbon contained materials were carried out. For example, after nitrogen doping, the char product was converted to a good electrode material with the specific capacitance ~300 F/g. It will be expected as a better biomass conversion technology to enhance the utilization level of abundant biomass resources in China.

Keywords: Biomass, pyrolysis, polygeneration, H2 enriched gas, oxygen contained chemicals, Carbon contained materials
